Part 1 - THE PREPARATION The personal relationship with CHRIST- must be right . We're not talking about being perfect obviously. but we do need to make sure that we are prayed up and armored up, before we go out and do the survey.
The reason that we need to make sure that we are ready spiritually, is because witnessing involves the spiritual realm, and this involves demonic activity. 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 - Satan is called the god of this world, and he has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. It is imperative that we have the Holy Spirit in our witnessing, and to know that he is leading us all the way.
We need to pray down the blinding force of the enemy and pray that people's eyes would be open to the truth of the Gospel.
Preparation Process of Evangelism
When I was in Bible College eons ago, we did an evangelism Outreach to Mardi Gras. If you know anything about that crazy Festival, it is wild. A bunch of drunken, crazy, stumblebums everywhere. It's like hell unleashes all of its venom in one place. We literally spent months praying ahead of time.
Prayer was essential in order for us to have any success against the strong demonic powers. However, no amount of prayer could prepare me for what I experienced at this carnal spectacle of flesh. The smell of vomit filled the air and the stench of death, was everywhere.
Thanks be to God we had the victory in Jesus Christ that day. Many Souls were saved and brought into the kingdom, and I know to this day, it was the months of prayer that led up to that outreach that made the difference.
THE MATERIALS ARE IMPORTANT WATCH THIS QUICK VIDEO!
The initial introduction is crucial to how the rest of the survey is going to go. When we approach people whether it’s at a grocery store, mall etc., it is important they see a friendly smile, a professional attitude and a real genuine Christian heart.
First approach the person, be very calm and congenial. Remember first impressions are very important. If people feel that you are overly nervous, or too excited, this could give that person the wrong impression. Try to be calm, cool, and collected. Always remember to pray for the individual that you are about to speak with. (what do you mean? Explain this more? Pray with them, to yourself?
Hello Madam , Hello Sir!
My name is Tim , I am out here to day conducting a survey - for a national Organization, survey takes less five minutes, Would it be okay to ask you three quick questions?
Yes or no? responses will determine if you will be giving the survey!
Some will ask what kind of a survey we are conducting?
Say: “We are conducting this survey as a follow-up to a recent Gallup survey released recently showing 77% of Americans say religion is losing its influence, and religion's power has never been lower, especially among young people. It's just three questions two questions are yes no, it takes less than five minutes, and you will really be helping me to collect the information. Would it be alright to go ahead with the questions? Wait for response?”
You can quote this paragraph verbatim in your introduction, because this is a legitimate fact-finding survey that we are conducting, and the information that we collect will be used by religious organizations and institutions across the world.
Asking the three questions is relatively straightforward and simple. There's not a lot of instruction needed here:
1. Do you believe God exists?
2. Do you believe Jesus existed in history?
3. How often do you attend Church? Seldom? Often? Never?
Recording the answers to questions is important because in order to do the follow-up questions which leads to the actual witnessing, we need to know what the person's responses are to questions one and two. In addition to this, we also need to compile the data that we are collecting.
Recording answers on survey - Make sure you go to the website and print out plenty of copies of the survey ahead of time. Remember that besides being a witness for Christ first and foremost, we also have an obligation to properly collect the data for the survey.
Make sure you print legibly, get the person's first name ,country of residence. And make sure you write down their approximate age, guessing of course, don’t ask them their age. Make sure that you include your name, and then go ahead and begin the survey.
After your day is over it's a important to compile the information for the survey, and either record answers by accesing website through your mobile device while you are doing the survey with the person, or wait till you get home and record all answers then on website jesussurvey.com -
THE SURVEY QUESTIONS -intro
feed back questions-sharing- JESUS
This is the Crux of the matter as they say. The feedback questions are designed to be used in response to the two questions previously asked in the survey. For purposes of the seminar we will classify these questions as question one and question two . The real witnessing gets started in the feedback section here.
This survey is designed to be a tool, an ice breaker, a doorway to share the Gospel of Jesus . Based on the answers given in the survey, we will begin to ask the
The whole survey is based on these two questions:
Question #1 - Do you believe God exists? If answer is no they do not believe, then we will ask a follow up question based on their answer. We will focus on question one for now, and how to answer someone who says they do not believe in God.
Introduction to feedback question #1
Dear Madam or sir:
We are also conducting additional feedback for the survey, would you be willing to answer just a couple more questions? This would really help us!
If they answer yes continue - if answer no, thank them for their time and leave a buisness card with them with website address.
I noticed you answered no to the answer to question one - you said you do not believe In God? Why is it you feel there isn’t a God?
A huge part of sharing Christ is the act of listening. When you are witnessing to someone, it is very important to listen to their words, and give them a chance to speak. As they speak they are giving you clues to what they believe. This will come in handy later when you are going back over their answers with them.
It's very important to listen carefully to their answers, so that we will know how to proceed properly once we know fully what they believe.
HOW TO ANSWER OBJECTIONS
For every objection there is an answer, but we must study and learn the proper way to answer the many objections people have to the Lord. This what we call Apologetics, or the defense of the Gospel. For instance, in question one - Do you believe in God? There could be many objections. Many times more than one objection. In order to properly offer a defense to their objection, we need to know how to answer the objection.
Scriptures to meditate on regarding Knowing truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
1 PETER 3:15) but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
FROM THESE SCRIPTURES WE SEE THAT WE NEED TO BE WISE AND BE ABLE TO ANSWER THE DOUBTERS AND AGNOSTICS OF OUR DAY.
ANSWERING THE OBJECTIONS
Most of objections to the Gospel we have encountered over the past 5 years of doing online evangelism are centered around these excuses:
IF GOD EXISTS WHY IS THERE SO MUCH SUFFERING IN THE WORLD?
I DON'T BELIEVE GOD EXISTS, EVOLUTION IS A FACT.
THE BIBLE IS NOT RELIABLE PROOF-CONTRADICTS ITSELF, MISTAKES, ETC.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH GOD IS RIGHT? THERE ARE SO MANY.
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH PROOF FOR ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A GOD.
These are really just excuses not to believe in God. so when we are giving the defense of the gospel or providing reasons why we believe, remember to share matter of fact With confidence, they do not really have an argument or defense of their position. Never be hostile or argumentative with the person. Always remember to be congenial smile, and do not let anything they say get to you, some may become negative, hostile, or argumentative fast.
2 Timothy 2:24_ And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
These answers can be used for Question #2 also:
THE QUESTION OF SUFFERING - HAS LONG BEEN USED BY THE ATHEISTS TO CONJURE UP sympathy FOR DOUBTING .
1. Why does a good God allow so much suffering/evil?
The first explanation of evil is from the Garden of Eden - from the biblical account located in Genesis 3 - When Adam and Eve sinned they opened the door to Satan to come in, and when Satan came in sin, disease, destruction, suffering, and every form of evil was allowed to enter into the world. Paul even called Satan the God of this world in 2 Corinthians chapter 4 . Be quite blunt about it, the suffering in the world does not come from God although he may allow suffering, it comes from Satan. This is usually treated as a philosophical argument, not a theological one, and because it is philosophical it is one question that always gets asked and quite often never gets answered. Iit has to be asked in a theological way, in order for there to be a theological answer. The fact is we have to go to scripture and look at the entirety of the word of God to answer the question of suffering and why God allows it.
Evil and suffering are not evidences against God’s existence.
CLAIM: There is so much unjustifiable, pointless evil in the world that the belief in a powerful and good God is pointless. Some other kind of “god” might exist but not this traditional one. Just because we cannot see or imagine a good reason why God might permit suffering and evil does not mean that none exists. Further, by observing life and people, we see that suffering and hardship often deepen/develop insight, character and strength.
Evil and suffering may actually be evidence for God. Explaining tragedy, suffering and injustice is a problem for every worldview. Just because you abandon a belief in God, does not make the problem of evil easier to handle.
CLAIM: Because of our sense of fair play and justice, we often conclude that people ought not to suffer, be excluded, and die of hunger or oppression. But the evolutionary mechanism of natural selection (the reigning model for biology) depends on death, destruction and violence of the strong against the weak—all perfectly natural aspects of life. On what basis does a human judge the world to be wrong, unfair and unjust? The point is that the problem of tragedy, suffering and injustice is a problem for everyone—for the atheist, the Buddhist, the Hindu and the Christian. To abandon a belief in God does not make the problem of evil easier to handle.
The Suffering of God and the Redemption and Resurrection that He Offers (is this supposed to be a heading?)
Genuine, biblical Christianity teaches that God in Jesus Christ suffered immeasurably and that it was qualitatively different than any other death, for it also involved the cosmic abandonment of the Son by the Father. Christianity alone teaches that God became uniquely and fully human in Jesus Christ and therefore knows firsthand despair, rejection, loneliness, poverty, bereavement, torture, and imprisonment. God is truly Immanuel (God with us) even in our worst sufferings.
Further, the resurrection means that every horrible thing that ever happened will not only be undone and repaired but will in some way make the eventual glory and joy even greater. The incarnation and the cross bring profound consolation in the face of suffering, for God became a victim of evil and suffering to eradicate evil and suffering from this world.
Consider these statements from modern writers:
C.S. Lewis: “They say of some temporal suffering, ‘No future bliss can make up for it,’ not knowing that Heaven, once attained, will work backwards and turn even that agony into a glory.”
Samwise Gamgee, speaking to Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings: “Is everything sad going to come untrue?”
(Whose quote is this?)Destruction and violence of the strong against the weak—all perfectly natural aspects of life. On what basis does a human judge the world to be wrong, unfair and unjust?
Dostoevsky: “I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage. . .”
2. I believe in evolution.
This argument always finds its way into evangelism, and is always one we have to be careful about. First of all. I always try to avoid the discussion about evolution. quite frankly because it only leads to long drawn-out arguments, which the evolutionist love to do.
My approach with those who believe in evolution is to simply get to the point quickly. Here is the number one question that I always come back with when evolution is brought up in the discussion.
If you weren't there to witness this so-called Big Bang, then how do you know it happened? No evolutionist has an answer to this question, and so therefore it is establishes the fact that it is a theory, rather than a science. By the way it usually ends the argument.
I always try to get the conversation back on the Bible and biblical facts as quickly as possible. One of the things that we try to do with the Jesus survey, is make this a conversation a non argumentative dialogue. However, it can be very hard to do this with evolutionist, because no matter what they want to be right and they're very proud of their knowledge. It is best to compliment them as much as you can regarding their knowledge, and keep a good communication line open during the conversation. With this type of evangelism, you may spend more time being patient and listening to their long drawn-out reasons why they believe in evolution, just remember you can pull lightly and take the conversation back to the Bible and what you believe.
For purposes of this seminar it is not important for you to know all the objections to the evolution debate, simply asking them the one question above, and bringing the conversation back to other things that you are more comfortable with like philosophy, or using the Bible as a tool to ask them questions. Continual dialogue is always going to be to your advantage when witnessing to these type of people.
These are my suggestions when witnessing to an evolutionist or agnostic it would be good to have some facts with you. If you wish to study some apologetic techniques that you can use in witnessing, I have included some links below for you to study, you can simply click on the links, and read to get some good ideas on how to share reasons why evolution is wrong.
3. The Bible is not reliable, and as full of errors.
Have you ever heard this lie? it is one that is used quite often by unbelievers. But it is easily countered by using common sense, history, logic, in the word of God itself.
The argument Is weak, and based on conjecture and hearsay. the main argument that these folks like to make, is that the Bible has been changed or altered in translation. thus making it ineffective. and they quote different things to try to make that point. what here is the proof that their claim is false. the Bible is the most reliable document ever in history. this comes from the Smithsonian Institute, and a Myriad of other sources.
the Dead Sea Scrolls. this was one of the greatest archaeological findings in the history of the world. because these Scrolls pointed to some key facts.
The writings of the Old Testament, well preserved, and we're almost word-for-word perfect translation from the Hebrew, and the English King James Version Bible. the comparison can be done by anyone, that is an amazing fact. this proves the Old Testament is an accurate book for study history geography and law.
All of the Old Testament was already in circulation, Authenticated, and was even used by Jesus in the Gospels, as he quoted from them many times. this also can be proven because we have the Dead Sea Scrolls to prove the existence of the Bible being written thousands of years before Jesus came to Earth or before his apostles were were even a thought. so we can go back and see the things that were written by the prophets and by the Old Testament writers, and go back thousands of years to the exact quote in the document that we have from the New Testament writers regarding Jesus ,the Apostle Paul, others that used the Old Testament frequently in their writings. so this means that we can authenticate the Old Testament as being a reliable document it can be proven, and thus should be taken seriously by anyone with a critical mind.
Prophecies and their Fulfillment. What are the great proof points of the authentification of the Bible is these prophecies given by the prophets. they are specific in nature, they reveal exact details describing places, and events. A thousands of years of Gap time between the prophecy given and prophecy fulfilled. Move link to all of these prophecies which you can study on your own time and they will give you a good guide when you're talking to people about some of the actual prophecies you can quote. Leave biblical prophecies are great way to settle an argument with anyone that doesn't believe the Bible is an accurate document. because there's no way that these events could be forged or fake it would require too many people being involved in in on it so to speak for this to be the case. some people believe these were self-fulfilled in their nature in other words they could read the Old Testament in and us they could try to sell fulfill these prophecies into being, but this is an attempt to grasp at straws to come up with some, sort of an argument .
Last but not least argument for the Bible is archaeology. we can go back and we can look at findings going back thousands of years that document people, places events ,that give a historical timeline to the world, Many of the findings include names of key characters mentioned in the Old Testament writings, they confirm places objects events. Findings even for the New Testament that confirm time surrounding Jesus and his disciples and other writings of the New Testament. and I will enclose the link to some of these archaeological findings as well. That would be good for you to study on your own time because it will give you some background when you're discussing these things with people , it's good to have quick facts to share with those you're ministering to.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH GOD IS RIGHT THERE ARE SO MANY ?
This is Another very common excuse people come up with for not following Christ. Monotheism which is What Christians believe is defined here - Monotheistic definition,
pertaining to, characterized by, or adhering to monotheism, the doctrine that there is only one God: Polytheism is the belief that there was more than one God. so understand between the two. you can use scripture to show how God is Not plural. I always start with going back to the Book of Genesis 1:1 IN the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth. it doesn't say God's plural. and share that God revealed himself in 3 persons, in (Matthew 28;18) Jesus said that We are to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Thus showing us the Triune God in nature. However, this doesn’t mean a polytheistic view.
I also use this question; ask them what other gods they are talking about? ask them to tell you what they are , their names etc,? This usually allows you To give a brief defense of the Gospel, to expose the errors in the false gods, or false religions they bring up.
It does help here to have a basic understanding of the many religions and cults of the world. You do not however , have to be an expert.
Below is a link that will teach you some basics to understand what various cults and religions believe- it’s good to keep it handy with you when you are doing the survey . for easy access.
Link to world religious views and cults;
All of these Objections are very similar in nature, and most of the answers that we give you can be used for just about any argument that somebody brings up.
The last objection we have on this short list is......
There is not enough real evidence for God.
this objection is a very ambiguous one, because they're not really saying what their objecting to . I always handle this objection by simply asking them the question, what evidence would it take for you to believe in God? Now they're either going to say nothing , or some ridiculous thing like if he came and stood in front of me , and said I’m Jesus that would help. “ well obviously we cannot prevent that kind of evidence, then I will I will say something like there are different kinds of proof that we use when determining if something is real. and we don't always base it on what we can see right in front of us. Inspector going The scene of a crime, look for Clues to determine what happened. and by fact-finding, and looking at all the evidence - a decision is made to make an arrest based on the evidence . A reconstruction of the events, that tells the story of what happened. This is how we can take all the evidence The Bible, science, geography, history, and Archaeology. And show how it all adds up to one conclusion, God is real, in the Bible is true, and Jesus really did exist to save people from their sins. and be the savior of the world,

How to use the Romans road to lead someone to Christ.
The last thing I want to discusss the actual plan of evangelism that we used to lead people to Christ. the great thing about Jesus survey is that you can plug in just about any evangelism program and it will work. whether it's evangelism explosion or Romans road. because the most important aspect of our witnessing is the actual handling of objections.
I have developed an easy way to use the book of Romans to lead someone to Christ. I use this all the time online in leading people to Christ.
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Pretty self-explanatory. All of us have failed God, or sinned, at some point in our lives.
Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Because of His love the Father sent the Son to die and pay the penalty for our sin, even though because of that sin we don't deserve it.
Romans 6:23 - "But the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We get paid wages when we work because that's what we've earned right? Same thing here. We earn death because of our sin. We can have the free gift of eternal life only through Jesus Christ.
Roman 10:9-10 - "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Make a public confession that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour and believe in your heart that He died on the cross and was raised again three days later, then you will be saved!
Romans 10:13 - "For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
Call on the Lord and ask for His forgiveness and you will be saved
THE SINNER'S PRAYER
Is a prayer that is used to lead people into a relationship with Christ. It can be prayed many ways, but must be spontaneous and from the heart. I will usually pray with the person first - thanking God for drawing them to this moment. Next I will have them repeat a portion of the prayer with me. This is just to help in getting them started out with this great decision to follow Christ, so they repeat after me as I lead them to the Father in Jesus Name! Be spontaneous here, pray from your heart on their behalf, let the Holy Spirit guide you here. There are some key elements to this prayer I feel should be used:
ROMANS 10:9,10 THE CONFESSION OF FAITH - CONFESS YOU ARE A SINNER, AND BELIEVE ON JESUS TO SAVE US FROM SIN NATURE.
BELIEVING JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS, WAS BURIED AND ROSE AGAIN.
CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION. BELIEVE THAT WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH IN JESUS HIS WORK ON THE CROSS. CONFESS BY FAITH WE ARE SAVED.
GO AND TELL SOMEONE OF YOUR DECISION TO FOLLOW CHRIST.
Father in heaven, I acknowledge I am sinner, and I need your forgiveness, I ask you to wash my sins away through your precious blood JESUS. I thank you you died on the cross , and rose again from the grave to save me, and allow me to have eternal life with you ! I accept the free gift of salvation by faith , I am no w a child of God. praise GOD!
